Same Actions Give Way to Same Results
Lev 18:28 And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out.
God is telling them and us that if you treat the land in the same fashion as the nations before you, you can expect the same results. Just three verses later in:
Lev 19:1-3 The Lord said to Moses, “Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: ‘Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am Holy.’ “ ‘Each of you must respect his mother and father and you must observe my Sabbaths.’ ”
God is commanding us to be holy. If we want to be Holy, we must respect the people that are going to teach us these vital principals and instruct us. We must conform to God’s way regarding His Sabbaths, and the fact that we will not be able to understand the science is irrelevant. There is a reason that God placed this directive in the order he did, for everything has an order, because God is a God of order. This order not only places the responsibility directly on you as the offspring, but charges and holds the parents accountable to know and indoctrinate their children in the truth.
For everyone to do their part, is to start the process of sanctification in the next generation that will lead to perfecting holiness.
Lev 19:30 “ ‘Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord.’ ”
God is telling us by the keeping of his sciences, we will in fact be showing respect for his dwelling place, which now is our body. If we show no regard for His science, we cannot expect to demonstrate the degree of worship he demands from His sanctuary. His sanctuary in the Old Testament is a foreshadow of our body, which completely reveals the significance of what we possess, after His ascension.
Are the children of Israel a picture of how we are acting today? We would never make a golden calf and bow down to it like they did. We can see that this breaks the first and second commandments.
Exodus 20:1 And God spoke all these words: I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other Gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol...
So what is an idol? Its basic meaning is “spirit” or “demon”. It is not something which God makes, but something which forms out of our actions of disobedience. It can be anything that moves us farther away from God.
In Saul’s case he was tormented by an evil spirit of jealousy. The demon manifested itself through him by producing actions which displayed jealousy. The key word here is “through him”, an idol can only function via a body, be it Saul’s or yours. A body which has ceased to operate from the knowledge of God, not only becomes the idol, but produces the actions that worship the idol. If you’re not operating out of the Spirit, then by default your flesh is your idol, and you’re out of control.
Phi 3:18-19 For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things.
God said “remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy” and “Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath and made it holy.” The Sabbath day come around once a week and can be any day that will allow you to do the actions that would keep it holy. These actions of complete rest are for a direct blessing to the little things that enable your body to function.
Jer 17:21 Thus says the Lord, Take heed for yourselves, and do not carry any load on the Sabbath day or bring anything in through the gates of Jerusalem. The working of the muscles takes away from the blessing. The bringing of anything into your body takes away the blessings that should have been yours.
Jer 17:22 And you shall not bring a load out of your houses on the Sabbath day nor do any work, but keep the Sabbath day holy, as I commanded your forefathers. God is telling us that He does not even want us to dump the waste. This is God’s best and the closer we align ourselves to His command the greater degree we will take on His blessings.
When you are the recipient of God’s blessings in your body they cause you to bless all the people around you. Can we believe that these blessings are there to be had? These are practical physical instructions not some spiritual state in the mind, and are perceived as a slam on the people around you. It was hard for them to sit still and it is hard for us to sit still.
Deu 9:13 And the Lord said to me (Moses), “I have seen this people,” and they are a stiff necked people indeed! Let me alone, so that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven.
The children of Israel did not remember the Sabbath day or keep it holy, even though the Lord blessed it and made it holy. We, like the children of Israel, have the choice to obey and be made holy, because the same blessing that was available to them is same blessings that will transform you to holiness.
We to are a stiff necked people, nothing has changed, and if the Lord Jesus was not sitting at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us, we would in fact be destroyed. However, the day-of-judgment will separate the sheep from the goats as it operates within the parameters of grace to distinguish between those chosen for honor and those for dishonor.
Daniel 12:1-3 …And there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time; and at that time your people, everyone who is found written in the book will be rescued. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake, these to everlasting life, but the others to disgrace and everlasting contempt. “And those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”
To be found “written in this book” (book-5612 a missive, deed, certificate, and indictment) is to have implemented in your life the knowledge of the mysteries of God. These actions are the get out of jail free card. This book is the Lamb’s Book of Life and your name will be in it when you possess an indestructible life.
The Lord has become like an enemy;
He has swallowed up Israel.
He has swallowed up all its places
He has destroyed its strongholds.
And multiplied in the daughter of Judah
Mourning and moaning.
And He has violently treated His tabernacle like a garden booth;
He has destroyed His appointed meeting place.
The Lord has caused to be forgotten
The appointed feast and Sabbath in Zion;
And He has despised king and priest
In the indignation of His anger.
Exodus 32:4 He (Aaron) took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you out of Egypt.” When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, “Tomorrow there will be a festival to the Lord.” So the next day the people rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry. God said to Moses, “They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them and have made themselves an idol cast in the shape of a calf. They have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and have said, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.’ “Let me alone, so that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven.”
Moses’ actions step in between what God was going to do and pleaded for the life of the nation of Israel, which is laid out in Deu 9:18 Then once again I fell prostrate before the Lord for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water, because of all the sins you have committed, doing what was evil in the sight of the Lord.
Moses’ action changed the outcome and stopped God from destroying them, but there will be repercussions from their sin.
Exodus 32:34 “...However, when the time comes for me to punish, I will punish them for their sin.” And the Lord struck the people with a plague because of what they did with the calf Aaron had made.
Well, we have given our lives to Jesus and asked Him to forgive us for our sins, and for this He has lead us out of Egypt, from the bondage of the world. For most of us, this is where we will stay, living out our days in trouble, because even though we know and have asked Jesus to be our Lord, we do not perceive how His instructions will lead us to the actions that would make Him our Master.
Jesus wants the best for us, so He has given us His Word to be a light unto our path and a lamp for our feet. The words of this light communicate that it will be the best to rest one day in seven. So we rest one day in seven, using our definition of what we think resting is, but in point of fact, by missing the true definition, our actions have fashioned our golden calf.
Each week we have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it, our actions are saying “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you out of Egypt.” Of course we would never think it, just like the child of Israel knew that this calf did not and could not bring them out of Egypt.
We know and sense there is something wrong, so in an attempt to alleviate the guilt we hold festivals to the Lord, a time of reflecting on our sacrifices and offerings. But Samuel’s words were never so relevant: “To obey is better than sacrifice.” We quote God’s laws to one another to project ourselves as holy. But the guilt remains, so we hold feasts and feed the one thing that gives us relief from our spirit, our fleshly golden calf.
Isaiah’s prophecy is just as relevant today as it was in his day, when he said or in Jesus’ day when he quoted him Isaiah 9:12 Arameans from the east and Philistines from the west have devoured Israel with open mouth. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised. But the people have not returned to him who struck them, nor have they sought the Lord Almighty. So the Lord will cut off from Israel both head and tail, both palm branch and reed in a signal day; the elders and prominent men are the head, the prophets who teach lies are the tail. Those who guide this people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray. Therefore the Lord will take no pleasure in the young men, nor will he pity the fatherless and widows, for everyone is ungodly and wicked, every mouth speaks vileness.
The most deadly of all false prophets are the ones who present partial truth in such a way, that it vaccinates you from catching the abundant life, the very thing that they assure you the vaccine will bring on.
Matt 23:15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.”
However, Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father, asking Him to overlook these stiff necked people, and only because of His sacrifice we are not destroyed or blotted out. The Father’s reply, “Your blood has covered them, however, when the time comes for me to punish, I will punish them for their disobedience through my Word which is written, ‘What you sow you will reap’."
Is there anybody who can stand before God and tell Him that our sickness and diseases are from seed we did not sow? But this sickness is still a discipline of love for the purpose of restoring fellowship.
(NASB) 1 Tim 1:6-7 For some men, straying from these things, have turned aside to fruitless discussion, wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.
With his unconditional love,
Right up until your death or judgment day,
And then it is perfect justice.
