Chapter 20

There is No Standing Still With God

Rev 3:15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm - neither hot nor cold - I will spit you out of my mouth.

Romans 1:28 Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity.

When God gives you over to a depraved mind, He is telling us that we were not born in this condition. He allows the mind to become morally bad or corrupt depending on what we choose.

What knowledge did they not retain which would have affected them in such a devastating manner, as to render them to a depraved mind? What caused them to stop trusting and obeying?

For someone to stop means, someone had to be, at one time, complying. If one did not know that one was complying, they also would not know one had stopped. Remember, the depraved mind came upon them before every kind of wickedness. If they did not know and it came upon them, why would it not also be in the process of coming upon us?

If something is changing you slow enough, you will not see the problem and even if you go to God’s word to examine yourself, your depraved mind will block out the light because you are under a deluding influence (2 Thes 2:10-12).

This direction we have chosen, places us on a path that even the light that we had becomes dimmer and dimmer, until even that which we had, will be taken from us.

Matt 13:12 Whoever has will be given more, and he will have in abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

Psalms 14:2-3 The Lord looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. All have turned aside, they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

God is telling us that we don’t know how to seek him, because we do not understand. In our ignorance, we turn aside, which means we were once there but did not continue because we did not recognize we were once there. So, when in our lifetime could we have been there and not known that we were, that is in this state where God wanted to keep us? Any lights go on? We didn’t know that is where God wanted us to stay, or how we got to that state in the first place.

We followed our parents, and became a willing sacrifice to their idols. Their ignorance of the truth of the laws of life reproduced in us what their parents reproduced in them.

Jer 9:13-14 And the Lord said, “Because they have forsaken My law which I set before them, and have not obeyed My voice nor walked according to it, but have walked after the stubbornness of their heart and after the Baals, as their fathers taught them.”

Our little bodies have grown up with these idols and have been sacrificed to many gods, which served only to blind us from the Truth, as it strengthened our flesh. By the time we could think for ourselves our little bodies were so polluted, accustomed and addicted to evil, that we were able to do wrong, but think it right. Like father like son, like mother like daughter. Who can see that this cycle must be broken, and even if he can see, will he have the strength to persevere?

The righteousness that was a credited to us by God at birth, gave way to wickedness because something that was done to us which corrupted our bodies. Corrupt means - containing alterations, foreign admixtures. Foreign means - not organically belonging, as substances found in organisms where they do not naturally occur. Admixtures means - a thing or ingredient added in mixing. Our parents sincerely love us and would not deliberately allow us to eat anything which would hurt us. However, if this corruption came from either, the mixing of two or more incompatible foods in the stomach, or overloading the stomach, who could know of the outcome of incorrect mixing of digesting juices?

(NASB) Romans 4:9-11 Is this blessing on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also? For we say, “FAITH WAS CREDITED TO ABRAHAM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.” How then was it credited? While he was circumcised or uncircumcised? Not while circumcised, but uncircumcised; and he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of faith which he had while uncircumcised, so that he might be the father of all who believe without being circumcised, that righteousness might be credited to them.

In our young state it was not like we were sinless, with no need for a covenant, but rather, we were in a right standing with our covenant. A covenant which is respected, and adhered to, out of ignorance, is a contract that will be valid until the age of accountability. It will generate the blessings under this covenant, because your undeveloped mind has no concept of right and wrong.

On the other hand, a covenant that is not honored, out of ignorance or not, will not return any benefits under the covenant. In other words, just because your parents raised you it does not negate your obligation to live at the standard laid out in the contract.

A baby that is born with pure blood, which is not corrupt, is a living being who knows not God, but is returning to God, all that is required to validate his side of the covenant.

However, a steady prolonged ingesting of foods that have created and spun off foreign admixtures will produce corruption in the body and blood leading to a depraved mind. Today, not only do we eat more than what is sound but our food is polluted and almost void of nutrients. And just look at all the dangerous food combinations which are being assessed on taste.

Psalms 7:14 He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment. (NASB) Behold, he travails with wickedness, and he conceives mischief, and brings forth falsehood.

Which will say in a dictionary sense: A body that is marked by abundant production of anything which causes harm, pain, or disaster, will think and imagine in the mind, troubles, which when given the required amount of time brings forth offspring to take away the idealism of, and makes disappointed and bitter etc. Bitterness grieves the Holy Spirit because wickedness results from ongoing evil. This evil which is being produced in our body is causing lawlessness.

1 John 3:4 Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.

A body which has been commandeered by a microscopic invader is operating under lawlessness. A body which becomes sick on a regular basis, is practicing sin.

1 John 3:6 No one who is born of God practices sin; because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

That is not to say you will never sin, but the key word here is “practice”. Sin in one, born of God, becomes less and less, until it is not common place.

Lev 26:35 All the time that it lies desolate, the land will have the rest it did not have during the Sabbaths you lived in it. “ ‘As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a wind-blown leaf will put them to flight. They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall even though no one is pursuing them. They will stumble over one another as though fleeing from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them.’ ”

Lev 26:39 Those of you who are left will waste away in the land of their enemies because of their sin; also because of their fathers’ sins they will waste away.

God is talking about his people who disobeyed his command to let the land lay fallow one in seven. The Israelites did not understand the vital connection between the soil and their state of mind.

As a result of their father’s disobedience, and their continuing to follow what their fathers did in this manner, they produced in themselves a mind that is fearful and conceives trouble. A mind that conceives trouble comes from a body that is pregnant with evil which will grow to give birth to disillusionment. Disillusionment becomes bitterness, which produces a life that does what ought not to be done, grieving the Holy Spirit as they insult the Spirit of grace.

Heb 10:29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

Eph 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, every form of malice.

There is only one way to get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, every form of malice, and that is to submit to Jesus’ program to purify your temple. It is impossible to remove these actions from your person until Jesus cleans up the area from which they originate; your bowels. Without a thorough temple cleaning, all you have to work with is a double mind; unstable in all its ways.

Maybe that is why the church at large, in my opinion, focuses on being saved and keeping your eye on heaven, because everything in between is disappointing and bitterness. It is only by our twisted definition of believing, that the devil has deceived us into thinking that the un-appropriated grace of God is going to keep us out of captivity.

Jer 14:10 This is what the Lord says about this people: “They greatly love to wander; they do not restrain their feet. So the Lord does not accept them; He will now remember their wickedness and punish them for their sins.”

But you say “Christ died for my sins” and rightly so, however there is a qualifier, that is, to all that do not wander off. By wandering off, you have broken your covenant and not met Christ’s terms and conditions in His covenant, which He wrote in his blood. When your covenant is not validated, in the time you received on earth, then it annuls the marriage covenant which you had with Christ.

Christ still died for you, but by rejecting His covenant, your sin is exposed and there is nothing to block your wickedness from the Father’s memory or His wrath. However, Christ will not be denied just delayed because of this time of wrath.

On earth, grace is always calling you back, most often through suffering, and stands ready to be engaged right up until your last breath.

Deu 29:3 With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those miraculous signs and great wonders. But to this day the Lord has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear. During the forty years that I led you through the desert, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet. You ate no bread and drank no wine or other fermented drink. I did this so that you might know that I am the Lord your God.

Like in the days of coming out of Egypt, even if God were to show us miraculous signs and great wonders, we, like them, would still not believe to the point of doing any more than what they did, which is to come out from the world.

God put them in an environment where he could control what they ate and drank and because of this, their bodies did not wear out, but gave them all the days that were allotted to them.

This structured period of time gave them the ability to know that the Lord was their God, and to believe to the point of total surrender even though they did not understand how they were transformed. This same bewilderment is happening today, because we greatly seek transformation in an environment which we will not allow God to control.

When Jesus becomes our Lord, we relinquish to Him the responsibility to move us into an environment where he can control our circumstances. Placed in His environment, under His conditions, gives us clothing which does not wear out, and the ability to receive the knowledge of the Truth. If we will not submit, Romans 11:8 gives us the outcome.

Romans 11:8 ... just as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes to see not and ears to hear not, down to this very day.”

We don’t need to understand to obey, if we trust God. There is a saying that sums up the proper response “It is not yours to wonder why, but to do or die.” It is in this attitude over time that God will show you why.

The pitiful truth is that we would rather argue and rationalize from a stand point of ignorance, than to bend the knee. Therefore, God will again place His elect in an environment which will produce the holy outcome which He demands. And if we are fast learners, we will be taken out in the first half of His Great Tribulation, if not, no one of His remnant will miss this standard upon its conclusion.

Isaiah 59:4 No one calls for justice; no one pleads his case with integrity. They rely on empty arguments and speak lies; they conceive trouble and gave birth to evil.

1 Tim 1:6-7 For some men straying from these things, have turn aside to fruitless discussion, wanting to be teachers of the Law, even though they do not understand either what they are saying or the matters about which they make confident assertions.

If the shoe fits, put it on, but don’t get bent out of shape.

James 1:15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

This is talking about cutting our earthly life short, do to our actions of sabotage on our holy temples, because we are allowing sin the time needed to mature.

Jer 11:15 “What is my beloved doing in my temple as she works out her evil schemes with many? ...

Satan prompts us by enticing our flesh to move to form an idol and sin is born. Should we continue to feed and nurture this off spring to maturity, it will rob us of wisdom and remove us from God’s presence.

James is talking about followers of Jesus that are removed from the Lamb’s book of life. We want something, so we take it inside of us and sin starts to grow. We do not stop it from growing because we do not know it’s alive and growing inside of us. There is no watchman inside us to alert us to our subtle digression and we are also ignorant of recognizing before hand the potential threats. We see our thighs become heavy or our stomach start to grow, but we never consider that, which is inside. Our desire must have accepted something that deceives us, which cannot be seen, but only understood through Gods word. Let’s follow Ezekiel through the wall of the Temple.

Eze 8:7 Then he brought me to the entrance to the court. I looked, and I saw a hole in the wall. He said to me, “Son of man, now dig into the wall.” So I dug into the wall and saw a doorway there. And he said to me, “Go in and see the wicked and detestable things they are doing here.” So I went in and looked, and I saw portrayed all over the walls all kinds of crawling things and detestable animals and all idols of the house of Israel.

All these crawling things and detestable animals that we are to make a distinction between are laid out in Leviticus, Chapter 11.

It is easy to stay on this path and allow this sin the time needed to grow to maturity when we are oblivious to it. Given the nature of the attack, it would seem logical that we would be blind sighted by this birth of death. It seems like a lot of these diseases come right out of the blue. How many times have you heard someone say in response to a death, “He was never sick a day in his life.”

Jer 6:26 O daughter of my people put on sackcloth and roll in ashes; mourn as for an only son, a lamentation most bitter. For suddenly the destroyer will come upon us.

Would God hold us responsible for this sneak attack by Satan whereby His temple is destroyed?

God’s word leaves us no excuse before our maker.

Jer 25:31 ‘A clamor has come to the end of the earth, because the Lord has a controversy with the nations. He is entering into judgment with all flesh; as for the wicked, he has given them to the sword,’ ” declares the Lord.

This is the flesh of animals as well as humans which means judgment day on earth.

2 Cor 3:16 ...If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him.

Yes, God will hold us accountable whether we make little or no application of the knowledge given to us through the truth of his Holy Word. It would be unthinkable for a Holy God who operates with perfect justice, to condemn his creation without making available to them exactly what was expected.

God also must provide the ability and means to understand and comprehend the details of his directives. We all know that the Holy Bible gives us everything we will need to live a life of holiness and righteousness before God, but if we cannot decipher the map, we stall out after conversion.

There is only one way to righteousness and there is only one way to holiness, there are no short cuts, and you cannot do an end run. One step builds on the step before and the step that you are on has been illumined only by mastering the step before. If you have missed a step, where will the light come from to decipher the map? And if I am foolish enough to move on, where will it take me but on my own mission, doing my will, in my power, and all the time trying to convince myself that this is God’s mission through the Spirit’s power.

Matt 15:14 Jesus said “If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”

Jer 10:21 The shepherds are senseless and do not inquire of the Lord; so they do not prosper and all their flock is scattered.

Unfortunately, you must do the critical thinking and not rely on others to do it for you! For to hold some Pastor out in front of you is not going to cut it!

(NASB) Ecc 11:9 Rejoice, young man, during your childhood, and let your heart be pleasant during the days of young manhood. And follow the impulses of your heart and the desires of your eyes. Yet know that God will bring you to judgment for all these things. So, remove vexation from your heart and put away pain from your body, because childhood and the prime of life are fleeting.

(NASB) Ecc 12:1-4 Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, “I have no delight in them” - before the sun, the light, the moon, and the stars are darkened, and clouds return after the rain; in the day that the watchmen of the house tremble, and mighty men stoop, the grinding ones stand idle because they are few, and those who look through windows grow dim; and the doors on the street are shut as the sound of grinding mill is low, and will arise at the sound of the bird, and all the daughters of song will sing softy.

When your body is young, you think you are invincible, going after whatever you imagine is going to satisfy your heart. You become intoxicated by the vitality of youth and go on to indulge the desires of our flesh which takes us to a place where we may never sober up.

Remember, one day you will give an account before a Holy God. Think about it, when we were young the evil days have not come as yet, because we were pure in body, we had no anxiety. We must return to this state!

There is only one action on our part that will enable us to banish anxiety from our hearts and cast off troubles from our bodies, and that is to keep our eyes focused on the uplifted hands of our Lord Jesus Christ as we go through the steps of repentance.

In other words, if you don’t draw very close to, and maintain a living intimate love relationship through your understanding of how Christ is showing you the way, you will never have the strength to gain the victory in the battle over your flesh.

Without securing in place, the full armor of God, which is the only provisions through which we can repel Satan’s fiery darts, we will not stand in the Day of Judgment.

Isaiah 26:11 O Lord, your hand is lifted high, but they do not see your zeal for your people and be put to shame; let the fire reserved for your enemies consume them.

Make no mistake this fire will consume you!
