Wisdom or Folly
“As for God, his way is perfect;
the word of the Lord is flawless.
He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.”
For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man,
But men spoke from God as they were
carried along by the Holy Spirit.
God is telling us that all wisdom is contained in his Holy Bible and that we are to believe it, even though it is above our understanding. He directs us to saturate our minds with his commands and then take action by turning to them, allowing them to set and control the parameters of our actions in living. Once in this state of surrender, now apply your heart to understanding, call out for insight, cry aloud for understanding and keep persevering in this directive. God’s word cannot lie, and He says you will find what you are looking for, you will not be disappointed or denied. The key is perseverance in obedience!
Luke 8:17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.
Pro 3:13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life are in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.
Wisdom is the ability to act contrary to the desires of the flesh. Wisdom is the ability to implement knowledge even though your understanding is limited. Wisdom is to find the strength needed to live a disciplined life. Wisdom will return to you only what God offers, which is nothing less than his best! God’s best is His Highest standard for your body, and therefore, your life. Do not be dismayed when your progress seems slow and you find yourself compromising to cope. Tomorrow is always a new day, so view the past as a building block to the future.
The primary blessing that God’s wisdom wants to impart to you is long life through pleasant ways and paths of peace. How wonderful it is that she has two hands, and her left hand supports her right hand with riches and honor which enables her to smoothly accomplish her mission in you. The right hand is a walking testimony, a billboard to the goodness of God that supplies us with the time. The left hand gives us the capacity to impact the people around us through good deeds.
Ignorance or disobedience are the ways we can be robed of our ability to believe, which is why it will be so important to gain knowledge and understanding, and obey even when we don’t know why. “A wise man will store up knowledge and seek to gain understanding.”
Pro 12:1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.
If you seek knowledge from the Lord you better be prepared to first incorporate discipline. And if you think you have gained great understanding and knowledge, then your life will also display the same level of discipline. Knowledge and understanding can be measured by your disciplines.
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
The question is: Why are we rejecting knowledge and not taking hold of understanding? What is keeping us from recognizing knowledge when it is being presented? Why will our brains not allow us to comprehend, discern or gain understanding?
Hosea 4:10 And they will eat, but not have enough; they will play the harlot but not increase, because they have stopped giving heed to the Lord. Harlotry, wine and new wine take away the understanding. My people consult their wooden idol, and their diviner’s wand informs them; for a spirit of harlotry has led them astray, and they have played the harlot, departing from their God.
Does eating and drinking have something to do with playing the harlot? Is understanding removed by harlotry?
Jer 3:9 “And it came about because of the lightness of her harlotry, (2184) that she polluted the land and committed adultery with stones and trees.”
Harlotry’s meaning (2184) is adultery, infidelity, idolatry, but it is from 2181 which is the primary root that states [highly fed and therefore wanton] rarely of involuntary ravishment. Wanton means; undisciplined, sexually loose, deliberately malicious, recklessly ignoring justice.
1 Thes 5:21 Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil.
Evil: Morally bad or wrong; wicked; resulting from conduct regarded as immoral. Anything that causes harm, pain, disaster, etc. Manifests itself through actions of wickedness.
2 Cor 13:5 Examine yourself to see whether you are in the faith; test yourself. Do you not know that Christ Jesus is in you - unless, of course, you fail the test?
This is a command pointing out it is going to take an examination to distinguish the authentic from counterfeit. Jesus is not going to ask us to examine ourselves for something that is an intangible or a concept, for how can one test for something you cannot see. The first step is to recognize that faith is tangible, that is, it must be physically seen. The only thing that we control that is physical is our bodies; in other words, how my body functions will determine the degree I pass or fail. Given the fact that we only have two parts and the spirit is not physical, it will be the body that must be held up to the light of God’s Word, to see if it can perform the physical acts required. This practical test is black or white, on or off, pass or fail, for God will not allow there to be any doubt.
My Dad sometimes used a term “the proof is in the pudding, son”. In other words, follow what you believe is right, for the time you believe it takes to receive what faith promises, and at the end of this time, it will be very clear, if you missed the mark.
Daniel 10:2-12 At this time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; (verse 12) Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.
God is telling us if you set your mind to gain understanding, you must accompany your search with actions of mourning. Daniel’s actions of humbling himself before the Lord were actions of fasting and pray. This takes discipline! Let’s remember one very important detail surrounding Daniel’s revelation. It came only after he set himself apart for God for the duration of three years. Through this life, God recorded for us exactly what it takes to perfect holiness, to sanctify yourself. God used him after the period of sanctification was over, and he wants to use you, but only after your period of sanctification is over. Daniel was mourning to see God because that’s what mourning gives. God showed himself to Daniel in the third year, but never used him until the fourth year, the year he entered the King’s personal service. (Dan 1:19) Daniel followed the steps, obeyed God’s commands and reaped God’s rewards, because he wanted to see clearly God’s mission for his life.
Daniel 1:16-17 So the overseer continued to withhold their choice food and wine they were to drink, and kept giving them vegetables. And as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in every branch of literature and wisdom; Daniel even understood all kinds of visions and dreams.
You cannot see clearly God’s mission for your life until you consecrate yourself, and then our King will call you into His personal service. (Rev 3:12)
Ecc 7:4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure.
If someone were to back into your car and damage the body, we would take it to a place to be repaired, the body shop. We know our spiritual problem is a problem of the heart; therefore, we need repairs done to the heart. God is telling us where to go to accomplish the work he requires. But what does the house of mourning look like? We know what happened to the five virgins who stayed in the house of pleasure. (They had to return for more oil.)
After our period of sanctification is over, Christ our Lord, the King of Kings, will call you into his service. Throughout the third year, Christ will give you your commission as he reveals himself to you. But in the fourth year, you have become worthy to receive power to accomplish your mission.
Zech 4:7 (God speaking) “What are you, O mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground.”
You have all the resources of God at your disposal, and He bares all the responsibility to eliminate any and all things that would block your path. Even after the wise virgins leave and should we find ourselves returning for more oil, he is still going to remove the stumbling blocks.
Matt 13:41 “The Son of Man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks and all those who commit lawlessness…” (On the Day of Judgment)
God honored Daniel after a 21 day period of mourning by showing him the things that were going to take place in the end times. None of us would want to be living through this time, but if we are, we must keep on following Him; He will do a work in our lives.
Matt 13:43 Then the RIGHTEOUS will SHINE FORTH LIKE THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father. He who has an ear, let him hear. (After the Day of Judgment)
Wisdom will be proven right. The question is: Do you want to use your life in an attempt to prove it wrong? Or should you give God the benefit of the doubt and position yourself to prove it right? Then, when it turns out to be correct, you end up receiving what wisdom promises; long life, honor and riches and all her ways are peaceful and pleasant. The cost to prove wisdom right or wrong is 36 months of denying your flesh.
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt,...
Today we are all thanking God for our leaders who we believe have asked God for wisdom. We see them studying and giving in service as a means to displaying and proving this wisdom. But where is their long life free of sickness and disease, where are the riches that come with true honor?
Jer 8:7-9 Even the stork in the sky knows her appointed seasons, and the dove, the swift and the thrush observe the time of their migration. But my people do not know the requirements of the Lord. “How can you say, “We are wise, for we have the law of the Lord,”
When actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely?
The wise will be put to shame; they will be dismayed and trapped. Since they have rejected the word of the Lord, what kind of wisdom do they have?”
