An Impartial God
“God had his favorites down through the ages and I am not one of them.”
Col 3:25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.
Even Moses, because he disobeyed and struck the rock twice in the desert, was disallowed to enter into the Promised Land. God is not faithful to a person; he is faithful to his Word. He is no respecter of a person, he shows no favoritism. But as you learn and follow God’s instructions, then he is obligated and bound by his own Word to bless you in whatever areas you have obeyed. Thus, it only appears that he has shown favoritism to people like David, Daniel, Abraham, Joseph and Moses, etc. We all will have different missions, but if we position ourselves to line up with the Word of God, we can expect the same kind of miraculous power being displayed in our lives. However, even after you arrive, should you choose to operate recklessly, there is no coasting on your past record.
Jer 22:24 “As I live,” declares the Lord, “even though, Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, were a signet ring on my right hand, yet I would pull you off. I shall give you over into the hand of those who are seeking your life, yes, into the hand of those whom you dread, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans...”
Romans 2:6 God “will give to each person according to what he has done.” (verse 9) There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, and then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism.
God will give to each person, by allowing his laws to function, as he designed them, according to the type of fruit each person bares. That is, if my fruit is morally bad or wrong, if my conduct results in doing anything that causes harm, pain or brings on disaster, God will consider my actions to be evil. Our just God, give us only what is just for us to receive, if our actions obey God’s word and his word cannot lie, our actions will demand we receive the blessings and promises afforded by his word, regardless of whom we are.
Isaiah 56:1-7 Thus says the Lord, “Preserve justice, and do righteousness, for My salvation is about to come and My righteousness to be revealed. How blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who takes hold of it; who keeps from profaning the Sabbath, and keeps his hand from doing any evil.” Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord say, “The Lord will surely separate me from His people. Neither let the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.” For thus says the Lord, “To the eunuchs who keep My Sabbaths, and choose what pleases Me, and hold fast My covenant, to them I will give in My house and within My walls a memorial and a name better than that of sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name which will not be cut off. (3772 - Means to cut off; by implication to destroy or consume; specifically to covenant) “Also the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to Him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants, every one who keeps from profaning the Sabbaths, and holds fast My covenant; even those I will bring to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all the people.”
The Jew and the Gentile, the foreigner and the eunuchs all become one in Christ if they choose to measure up. There are two building instruments which will be placed over you to determine the only categories of distinction that will ultimately be recognized. These two simple instruments which reveal if your structure is straight and true are pointed out in Isaiah and throughout scripture.
Isaiah 28:17 “And I will make justice the measuring line, and righteousness the level; then hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and water shall overflow the secret place. And your covenant with death shall be cancelled, and your pact with Sheol shall not stand. When the overwhelming scourge passes through, then you become its trampling place.”
Isaiah 66:17 “Those who sanctify and purify themselves to go to the gardens, following one in the center, who eats swine’s flesh, detestable things, and mice, shall come to an end altogether,” declares the Lord.
If the only people who make it into heaven are the people who preserve justice and do righteousness, by reframing from profaning the Sabbaths, and keep his hand from doing any evil; that are to receive a memorial on the wall of the house of the Lord and a better name which will be an everlasting name, then who are these sons and daughters and where did they come from? Who did not preserve justice and did not do righteousness? Who profaned the Sabbaths and allowed their hands to work evil which caused them to receive a name of lesser status? These sons and daughters have come from the center, following later and have received a name which still has the potential to be cut off, and will be based on their choice of who to follow. These people have come out of prison after paying what they owe and that is why Satan will be released again for a very short time.
Matt 5:26 “Truly I say to you, you shall not come out of there, until you have paid up the last cent.”
The man who was relying on the fact that he had casted out many demons, to be his ticket to heaven, received this reply, “Away from me, I never knew you”. This man had blessed other people by being in a right relationship with the Lord, but lacked the understanding of how he got there. Therefore, he did not know the signs that were taking him out of this relationship. If there ever was going to be a time where God could justify showing favoritism, this would most certainly be the time. This man enjoyed his success in casting out demons, but when the time came for heaven or hell, he did not meet the requirements of God, and was also shown no favoritism. Clearly, these external good deeds were in God’s criteria; therefore, one must conclude that this man missed some prerequisites along the way.
A personal relationship with Christ is to obey God’s Word, and in doing so one of the first benefits will be to meet the requirements to position yourself for heaven. In positioning yourself for heaven you can expect God’s blessings, that might look like he is showing you favoritism, but it is for all the people who will do all the actions that line up with his Word. The man casting out demons was using his passed results to assess his current personal relationship with Christ. Likewise, we too could be making the same kind of mistake as this man did who was casting out demons. This man thought he was going to heaven, for what his passed actions had accomplished. To experience the power in Christ’s name at sometime in our lives, without knowledge, is to set ourselves up sometime in the future for our flesh to deceive our minds into thinking, “Once there, always there.”
Pro 28:21 To show partiality is not good - yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
Man will do wrong by showing favoritism when his flesh wants something, but because God is good he never adulterates his laws to accommodate disobedience. To make exceptions to His laws on the one side would be to erode our faith on the other.
